Irène Delcourt



Irène Delcourt is a PhD candidate in American history at the EHESS, and currently teaches at the University of Strasbourg. Her thesis, directed by François Weil, focuses on the medicalization of narcotic addiction in the U.S. and revolves around the complex relationship between addicts, health professionals and public authorities in late 19th and early 20th century New York.
Her recent publications include "La Noire Idole : Opium, ivresse et ébriété au XIXe siècle aux Etats-Unis", Nuevo Mundo Mundos Nuevos.
