Elisabeth Engel is a doctoral candidate at the Graduate School of North American Studies of the John F. Kennedy Institute, Free University Berlin. Her current research concerns African-American missionary work in British colonies in Africa during the interwar period. She worked as a lecturer at the Department of Anglo-American History at the University of Cologne, covering the fields of African-American history and Postcolonial Studies. She is co-editor of the forthcoming essay collection Colonialism and Beyond – Race and Migration from a Postcolonial Perspective.
