Pierre Pénet holds a PhD in sociology from Northwestern University and SciencesPo Paris. Now a postdoctoral fellow at University of Geneva, Pénet coordinates with Juan Flores a project funded by the Swiss National Foundation “Diplomacies of sovereign debt: Comparing International Regimes of Sovereign Debt Dispute since 1945.” Pénet’s expertise straddles the boundaries of ‘law and globalization’ and ‘history of quantification’ scholarships. He has published widely on topics of credit rating agencies, the European sovereign debt crisis and austerity programs. His article “The IMF failure that wasn’t: risk ignorance during the European debt crisis” is forthcoming at the British Journal of Sociology. He is currently working on an article on the history of US securities regulation and on turning his dissertation on credit ratings into a book.
