Mathilde Groppo

Mathilde Groppo is a doctoral candidate at King’s College London’s Dickson Poon School of Law. Her research is a comparative study of English and French defamation laws. She uses defamation as a case study to analyse the interrelationship between tort and crime, and the extent to which the nature of the regulation (tortious or criminal) materially affects the content of substantive rules. Mathilde’s research interests lie in the areas of tort, media, comparative and private international law. She holds an LLM from McGill University, a double maîtrise from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and a joint LLB in English and French law from King’s College London. Mathilde’s research is funded by a scholarship from the AHRC
